The Sound Input Driver gives Digidesign hardware owners access to Apple's recording capabilities via standard routines described within Inside Macintosh Volume VI, chapter 22. This makes it so software does not rely upon a particular input device for recording audio.
How To Use:
- Place the "Digidesign Sound Input" INIT in your extensions folder.
- Place the "DigiSystem INIT" in your extensions folder.
- Restart your machine.
- Open the sound cdev in the Control Panels window.
- Select the "Digidesign" sound input device.
- Click "Options" to select and setup the hardware.
Uses:
- Any Sound Input compatible application.
- Quicktime for recording audio with video.
- Record system sounds within the sound cdev.
Sound CDEV:
When a sound input device is available the "Microphones" section of the dialog will appear. Within this window you can select the sound input device. The "Options" button will become active if the sound input device has unique features which can be altered.
Sound Input Options:
Digidesign's "Sound Input Options" dialog allows users to select features which may not be accessible elsewhere. If you have multiple Digidesign cards in your system you can use this dialog to select which card you would like to use as your sound input device. This dialog changes depending on the card currently selected. In the example above, the Audiomedia card is selected which can have the Input Source and Input Level altered.
Sound CDEV Add:
This dialog appears when you click on the "Add…" button of the Sound CDEV. This provides an easy way to add sounds to your system.
